New research suggested that being obese could raise the risk of getting cancer by twice as much as previously thought. Prior research has tended to focus on a person's body mass index, estimating that excess body fat accounts for six percent of all cancers in high income countries. But this study conducted genetic analysis and found that being overweight could be as a bigger risk factor as tobacco.
